Women’s Basketball Match Held at Kigeme Refugee Camp Ahead of International Women’s Day
As part of the build‑up to the International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration, a special women’s basketball match was organized today at Kigeme Refugee Camp. The event brought together women refugees in a friendly yet competitive game aimed at strengthening unity, empowerment, teamwork, and physical well‑being.
The match was officially opened by the UNHCR South Representative, who acknowledged the role of sports in enhancing resilience, confidence, and social cohesion among women in refugee settings.
This activity forms part of ongoing efforts to recognize and uplift the contributions of women in the community while encouraging their active participation in sports and leadership.
