Today, under the PFR in CFC Project, Nyamagabe and Huye Correctional Facilities celebrated the successful completion of a 15-weeks of Sociotherapy Healing Dialogue, implemented from March to July 2026. A total of 72 out of 72 participants successfully completed all sessions in Co-Hort One, This demonstrating exceptional commitment and active engagement throughout the program.
The celebration was marked by healing songs, personal testimonies, poems of healing, and reflections. Participants shared how the program contributed to improved mental well-being, renewed hope, reconciliation, forgiveness, and stronger relationships with fellow inmates in correctional facility. They also expressed increased readiness for positive behavioral change and successful reintegration into their communities. Many participants highlighted the importance of continued support and linkages to community-based services after release.
Special appreciation goes to the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS) and Hoffnungs for their partnership and support in the successful implementation of this initiative. Sincere thanks are also extended to all facilitators and participants whose dedication and commitment made the program impactful.
Participants emphasized that the Sociotherapy Healing Dialogue Program provided valuable mental, emotional, and social support. The sessions helped them address personal challenges, build trust, strengthen resilience, and prepare for healthier relationships beyond the correctional facility.
The event also highlighted the urgent need to expand mental health and psychosocial support services within correctional facilities, enabling more inmates to benefit from opportunities for healing, rehabilitation, and positive transformation.
Congratulations to all graduates, facilitators, and partners for advancing healing, hope, reconciliation, and successful community reintegration through the PFR in CFC Project.
