Our Mission

Our Mission is to contribute to the transformation of disadvantaged people through peacebuilding, livelihood, justice, psychosocial and spiritual resilience interventions

Human Right Promotion & Legal Aid

Join us in our collaborative efforts with UNHCR and MINEMA to empower forcibly displaced and stateless persons and their communities through our Community-Based Protection, Legal Assistance, MHPSS, and PSN. Also, in Partnership with Prison Fellowship International, PFR supports children of inmates in Rwanda to address vital needs such as health, education, child protection, and spiritual growth during parental incarceration.

Spiritual Resilience

PFR, in partnership with PFI and RCS, implements the Prisoners' Journey Program across nine correctional facilities to foster spiritual growth and reconciliation among inmates. The program helps in the successful reintegration of ex-inmates into the community after release, serving their sentences. Moreover, PFR runs an evangelism program that focuses on forgiveness and emotional healing within all correctional facilities. This sector prepares inmates for a smoother transition to the community.

Restorative Justice

PFR facilitates the restorative justice process among offenders and victims whereby offenders acknowledge his/her responsibility and victims take part in the process of repairing the damaged relationship. This process provides space for perpetrators to acknowledge their accountability (confession, recognition of crimes and harm caused) through truth-telling and revealing hidden information, repentance, and asking for forgiveness.

Peacebuilding and psychosocial Support

Peacebuilding and psychosocial Support are among the most impactful initiatives that Prison Fellowship Rwanda has introduced since its inception. Community-based initiatives related to mental health and social cohesion at the grassroots level are implemented in communities and correctional Facilities to resolve conflicts, mitigate crimes, promote practical reconciliation, and foster social cohesion, thereby contributing to efforts towards sustainable peace in Rwanda.
