International Human Rights Day & Closing of the 16 Days of GBV Activism at Gikondo Community Center

Gikondo Community Center marked International Human Rights Day alongside the closing ceremony of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) with a vibrant event that brought together community members and partners.

Partner organizations, including Save the Children, Prison Fellowship Rwanda (PFR), and UNHCR, delivered impactful messages reinforcing the importance of dignity, equality, and safety for all.

  • Save the Children emphasized GBV prevention, highlighting the need to strengthen community awareness and improve reporting mechanisms for GBV cases.
  • Prison Fellowship Rwanda (PFR) focused on the broader theme of human rights, reminding participants that the foundation of peaceful and just societies lies in respecting the inherent dignity of every person.
  • UNHCR stressed the interconnectedness of human rights and GBV prevention, reaffirming its commitment to protecting refugee rights, ensuring access to services for GBV survivors, and supporting community-based initiatives that promote equality and accountability.

Special appreciation goes to PFR leadership for their timely facilitation and making this event possible.
