IDPD 2025 Celebration & Mvura Nkuvure Cohort 2 Graduation at Nyabiheke Refugee Camp
Today 3rd December 2025, PFR Nyabiheke, in collaboration with MINEMA, UNHCR, partners, and the refugee community, proudly marked International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD 2025) together with the World HIV Day commemoration and the Mvura Nkuvure Cohort 2 Graduation.
The joint celebration delivered key messages on inclusion, health, resilience, and community empowerment. Speakers emphasized the importance of ensuring equal access to services for persons with disabilities, promoting HIV awareness and prevention, and strengthening psychosocial wellbeing through community-based healing initiatives like Mvura Nkuvure
• 2 Persons with Disabilities received essential assistive devices, supporting their independence and functional ability,
• Graduates shared testimonies appreciating Mvura Nkuvure for helping them regain confidence, reduce stress, strengthen social connections, and improve their emotional wellbeing. Graduates of Mvura Nkuvure Cohort 2 were also supported with NFIs, recognizing their journey of healing and resilience.
• Community were encouraged to continue promoting non-discrimination, access to services, and mutual support for all, especially persons with specific needs.
PFR was acknowledged for their continuous support to persons with specific needs especially persons with disabilities and its active role in strengthening inclusive services in the camp.
