16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (Nov 25 – Dec 10)
This global campaign calls for unified action to end all forms of violence against women and girls.
2025 Global Theme: “Unite to End Digital Violence against All.”
National Theme: “TWUBAKE UMURYANGO UZIRA IHOHOTERA.”

On Dec 3, we commemorated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) under the theme:
“Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress.”
Rwanda’s theme: “DUSHYIGIKIRE UMURYANGO UDAHEZA ABANTU BAFITE UBUMUGA; ISHINGIRO RY’IMIBEREHO MYIZA.”

PRISON FELLOWSHIP RWANDA (PFR) actively participated in awareness campaigns at Mahama Refugee Camp, reaching approximately 20,000 students with key messages on:

  • Promoting dignity, equality, and accessibility
  • Ending gender-based violence
  • Digital safety for women and girls with disabilities
  • Inclusive education and full participation in community life

This period is a powerful opportunity to highlight the intersection between gender, disability, and digital safety. Women and girls with disabilities face higher risks of violence both offline and online, yet often lack accessible reporting channels and inclusive support services. Strengthening disability inclusion is essential to ending violence in the digital era and building societies where everyone is safe and respected.
