Today, Prison Fellowship Rwanda together with MINEMA, UNHCR, and other partners operating in Mahama Refugee Camp, have organized and conducted the community awareness campaign during the Igítondo cy’Isuku in Village-17. During the awareness campaign, we have announced the program of digital e-identification aligning with government policy of digitalizing services, encouraging them to attend this activity at their respective home address. Community members were also encouraged to use the supporting fund in economic activities which will help them to eradicate the poverty as we move closer to national strategic plan of 2030 where at least 50% of refugees will be financially stable. We also addressed the issue of the family conflicts, which often block the progress and disturb peace within the community. Prison Fellowship Rwanda urges refugees to avoid anything that could lead to being punished by the courts. They were encouraged to avoid conflicts and disputes that could take them to court.
Parents who neglect the upbringing of their children are subject to legal penalties if a child is harmed as a result of such neglect. Penalties include community service and imprisonment.
