World Refugee Day and the Day of the African Child brought together PFR Gikondo Community, UNHCR, Save the Children, Alight, and other partners to commemorate the theme“Until Everyone is Safe.” The celebration welcomed refugees and guests, stressing that refugee rights must be fully respected and protected. It also reinforced that safety and support are collective responsibilities—requiring action from governments, communities, and partners.
UNHCR reaffirmed its primary mission: protecting and supporting refugees until everyone can live in safety and dignity. The Guest of Honour, the Executive Secretary of Kigarama Cell, commended efforts by the Government of Rwanda to ensure security and provide assistance. In closing, the event recognised the resilience of refugees and the shared commitment to build better lives.
