Prison Fellowship Rwanda Joins Partners in the Intercamp Tournament 2026 in Mahama Refugee Camp
The Intercamp Tournament 2026, held in Mahama Refugee Camp from 24 to 30 August 2026, brought together refugee in a week of sport activities.
Prison Fellowship Rwanda (PFR) joined MINEMA, UNHCR, humanitarian partners, sports stakeholders, local authorities, and other partners in organizing and conducting the tournament.
The 2026 edition featured a variety of sporting disciplines, including football, basketball, volleyball, seatball, karate, and taekwondo.
The tournament provided more than an opportunity to compete. It created a positive and inclusive environment where young people could demonstrate their talents, develop teamwork and leadership skills, build friendships, and strengthen relationships across refugee and host communities.
The initiative also promoted key objectives related to protection, social cohesion, youth empowerment, talent development, gender equality, inclusion, and psychosocial well-being. Through sport and community engagement, participants were encouraged to use their time positively while promoting peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding.
PFR's participation reflected its commitment to working collaboratively with government institutions, UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, sports stakeholders, communities, and other partners to create meaningful opportunities for young people.
The conclusion of the tournament on 30 August 2026 marks the end of a week of competition, teamwork, and community engagement in Mahama.
PFR appreciates the commitment of all athletes, teams, coaches, volunteers, organizers, partners, and community members who contributed to the successful implementation of the Intercamp Tournament 2026.
