The Child’s Journey (TCJ) Officially Closes, Leaving a Lasting Legacy

Prison Fellowship Rwanda today officially marked the closure of The Child’s Journey (TCJ) program at its Head Office, celebrating a decade of impactful service dedicated to children of incarcerated parents.
Originally launched as the Children of Prisoners Program (CPP), the Prison Fellowship International signature program, the initiative began by supporting 50 children. In 2021, in partnership with Prison Fellowship International, the program evolved into TCJ, ( The child’s Journey) expanding significantly to reach 1,680 across multiple districts.
Transformative Impact
TCJ implemented a holistic approach that addressed the multiple needs of vulnerable children:
• Education: Full school fee coverage, learning materials, and school monitoring
• Child Protection: Rehabilitation of vulnerable homes for safer environments
• Health Support: Access to comprehensive medical care and nutrition programs
• Spritual Care: Mentorship, church engagement, and family reunification visits
• Livelihood Support: Community savings groups and income-generating activities
