Rebuilding Hope: 100 Graduates Celebrate Healing at Nkamira Transit Center

NKAMIRA, Rwanda – July 16, 2026

Prison Fellowship Rwanda (PFR), in partnership with the Ministry in Charge of Emergency Management (MINEMA), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and other partners, today celebrated the graduation of 100 participants who successfully completed the final three cohorts of the Community-Based Sociotherapy Program at the Nkamira Transit Center.

The graduation ceremony marked a significant milestone in promoting psychosocial well-being, social cohesion, and community resilience. More than a formal recognition of program completion, the event celebrated the journeys of individuals who courageously embraced healing, rebuilt trust, and strengthened their capacity to overcome adversity.

Through the Community-Based Sociotherapy Program, participants engaged in structured group sessions designed to foster emotional healing, mutual support, and constructive dialogue. The program provides a safe environment where participants can share experiences, rebuild social connections, and develop stronger coping mechanisms for the challenges they face.

Speaking during the ceremony, representatives from PFR and partner organizations recognized the graduates' determination and commitment throughout the program. They emphasized the critical role of psychosocial support in helping individuals and communities recover, grow, and thrive.

The event concluded with messages of encouragement, certificates of completion, and celebrations reflecting the collective achievements of the graduates and the continued collaboration among partners dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations.

As the graduates move forward, they carry with them valuable skills, renewed confidence, and strengthened relationships that will contribute to more resilient and cohesive communities.

Together, we are rebuilding hope, restoring dignity, and creating pathways toward a brighter future.
